Aquaponics is a very efficient method of growing food that uses a minimum of water and space and utilizing the waste, so the final product is organic, healthy fish and vegetables. From a nutritional standpoint, aquaponics provide food in the form of both proteins (from fish) and vegetables.
There are various aquaponic system configuration. Components common to every aquaponic system is the fish tank and plant growth. Variables include filtration components, plumbing components, the type of bedding plants and the amount and frequency of water circulation and aeration. In general, the system utilizes multiple filtration to remove solid waste fish will have higher production of fish and plants than those who do not use filtration.
